To provide a turning type propulsion machine capable of suppressing deterioration in positioning accuracy of a retaining unit even when the turning device has high responsiveness when carrying out dead zone treatment.SOLUTION: A turning type propulsion machine regarding one embodiment of this invention includes a turning device for turning a retaining unit for retaining a screw propeller, and a control unit, and the control unit carries out dead zone treatment regarding deviation angle which is subtracting one of an actual turning angle and a change command angle of the retaining unit from the other, determining a deviation angle after processing which is the deviation angle after the dead zone processing, turning a retaining unit when the deviation angle after processing is not zero, stopping turning of the retaining unit when the deviation angle after processing is zero, setting a change command angle to be the same angle as the command angle when the deviation angle after processing is zero, setting the change command angle to be greater than the command angle when the retaining unit is turned in a normal rotation, and setting the change command angle to be smaller than the command angle when the retaining unit is turned in a reverse rotation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】不感帯処理を行うにあたり、旋回装置の応答性が高い場合であっても、保持部の位置決め精度の低下を抑制できる旋回型推進機を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の一態様に係る旋回型推進機は、スクリュープロペラを保持する保持部を旋回させる旋回装置と、制御装置と、を備え、制御装置は、保持部の実旋回角度と変更指令角度の一方から他方を差し引いた偏差角度について不感帯処理を行い、不感帯処理後の偏差角度である処理後偏差角度を決定し、処理後偏差角度がゼロでないときは保持部を旋回させ、処理後偏差角度がゼロのときは保持部の旋回を停止させ、処理後偏差角度がゼロのときは変更指令角度を指令角度と同じ角度に設定し、正転方向に保持部が旋回するときは変更指令角度を指令角度よりも大きく設定し、逆転方向に保持部が旋回するときは変更指令角度を指令角度よりも小さく設定するように構成されている。【選択図】図1
