To provide a winter tire, and a rubber composition for tire tread therefor, and in particular, specifically, improve the braking performance of a tire on a wet road surface and an icy/snowy road surface and maintain the performance for a long period of time.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for tire tread comprises: 100 pts.wt. of raw rubber; 20-180 pts.wt. of a reinforcing filler, which comprises low specific surface area silica having a CTAB adsorption specific surface area of 60 to 150 m/g; and 2-50 pts.wt. of a liquid polymer, which has a glass transition temperature of -110 to -70°C and has a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 100,000 g/mol.
