To provide a shock absorption member that can be used for a bumper and the like of a vehicle, has excellent strength and shock absorption property, can achieve those properties at high yield, has reduced weight and is environmentally friendly.SOLUTION: A shock absorption member is formed by welding and joining a first hollow member 11 to a second hollow member 12 which are made of an aluminum alloy. The shock absorption member is formed so that a weld material and a weld bead W do not project from joint surfaces of the first hollow member 11 and the second hollow member 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
