To make it possible to highly precisely detect information about an obstacle that may exist in a traveling direction of a railway vehicle over the entire traveling range of the railway vehicle.SOLUTION: A safety driving support device includes a storage unit, a position acquisition unit, a detection range acquisition unit, a detection unit, and an output unit. The storage unit stores detection range information indicating a correspondence relation between a position of a railway vehicle and a detection range at which information about an obstacle existing in a traveling direction of the railway vehicle should be detected. The position acquisition unit acquires a current position of the railway vehicle. The detection range acquisition unit acquires a detection range according to the current position on the basis of the current position acquired by the position acquisition unit and the detection range information stored in the storage unit. The detection unit detects information about the obstacle from the detection range acquired by the detection range acquisition unit.     【課題】鉄道車両の進行方向に存在しうる障害物に関する情報を、鉄道車両の走行範囲の全てにわたって高精度に検知する。【解決手段】実施形態にかかる安全運転支援装置は、記憶部と、位置取得部と、検知範囲取得部と、検知部と、出力部と、を備える。記憶部は、鉄道車両の位置と、当該鉄道車両の進行方向にある障害物に関する情報を検知すべき範囲である検知範囲と、の対応関係を示す検知範囲情報を記憶する。位置取得部は、鉄道車両の現在位置を取得する。検知範囲取得部は、位置取得部により取得された現在位置と、記憶部に記憶された検知範囲情報と、に基づいて、現在位置に応じた検知範囲を取得する。検知部は、検知範囲取得部により取得された検知範囲から障害物に関する情報を検知する。出力部は、検知部による検知結果を出力する。【選択図】図2
