To provide a power unit capable of achieving downsizing of a protective wall for protecting a connection end of a speed detection sensor.SOLUTION: The power unit includes: a gear 87 fitted onto a driving shaft 34 of a rear wheel in a transmission case 32 and rotating together with the driving shaft 34; a speed detection sensor 91 opposing to a gear 87 at a detection front end 91a and having a connection end 91b connected with a harness 92 outside the transmission case 32 to detect a rotational speed of the driving shaft 34; and a protective wall 98 protruding from an external surface of the transmission case 32 at a position offset from the connection end 91b in the axial direction of the driving shaft 34.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
