To provide a technique capable of obtaining a desired regenerative torque by controlling a loss amount without using an operating point in a demagnetization region, in controlling an electric vehicle equipped with a multiphase motor.SOLUTION: A loss control method for an electric vehicle is provided, comprising a multiphase motor having a plurality of neutral points and a battery electrically connected to the multiphase motor via an inverter. In a dq-axis coordinates composed of a d-axis component and a q-axis component of current supplied to the motor, a loss control is performed in which different operating points are distributed to respective windings corresponding to the neutral points so that the target operating point of the motor 3 is outside the demagnetization region and becomes an operating point that generates the required torque. Thus, current corresponding to the operating points is supplied to the respective windings.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
