To provide a long pillar reinforcing member including a closed cross sectional structure joined at a flange part capable of suppressing the tensile stress in a joint part by guiding the tensile stress generated in the longitudinal direction of the flange part to the vicinity of the joint part and accordingly suppressing the breakage of the flange part due to the tensile stress when the pillar reinforcing member receives bending load in accompany with the collision.SOLUTION: In at least a pillar outer 11 of both flange parts 13, a plurality of bent parts 14, each of which is bent in the longitudinal direction, are formed in the longitudinal direction to form an excess length in the longitudinal direction. Each bent part 14 is arranged so as to surround an entire periphery of each of a plurality of joint parts (13b) dispersedly arranged along the longitudinal direction over the flange part 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】フランジ部において接合された閉断面構造を備えた長尺のピラー補強部材において、フランジ部の長手方向に生じる引張応力を接合部の周辺に誘導して接合部における引張応力を抑制することにある。それにより、ピラー補強部材が衝突に伴う曲げ荷重を受けたとき、フランジ部が引張応力により破断するのを抑制する。【解決手段】両フランジ部13の少なくともピラーアウタ11は、長手方向で屈曲されて成る屈曲部14を長手方向に複数形成されて長手方向に余長が形成されており、各屈曲部14は、フランジ部13上で長手方向に沿って分散配置された複数の接合部(13b)それぞれの周囲全体を囲むように配置されている。【選択図】図4
