To provide a rubber composition capable of improving wear resistance performance and low fuel consumption performance in a well-balanced manner, and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the rubber composition for tires which contains: a rubber component containing a first styrene-butadiene rubber having a weight average molecular weight of 1,000,000 or more, a second styrene-butadiene rubber having a weight average molecular weight of 100,000 or more and 400,000 or less, and a butadiene rubber having a weight average molecular weight of 400,000 or more and 1,000,000 or less; silica; a mercapto-based silane coupling agent; a sulfenamide-based vulcanization accelerator; a guanidine-based vulcanization accelerator; and a thiazole-based vulcanization accelerator.SELECTED DRAWING: None
