To provide a stern fin attached to the stern of a relatively-high speed ship, which can surely improve the efficiency of assisting the propulsion of the ship, and a ship equipped with the same.SOLUTION: A stern fin is attached to a side surface of a stern portion of a ship which is provided with a propeller and has a Froude number of a planned service speed equal to or more than 0.17. The stern fin is positioned on a forward side than the propeller in the direction of travel of the ship and in the vicinity of the height of the rotational axis of the propeller. A centerline, which is obtained by successively joining midpoints of an upper surface and a lower surface of the stern fin in a cross-sectional shape of the stern fin perpendicular to the direction in which the stern fin protrudes out from the side surface of the stern portion, is downwardly convex. The maximum protruding length of the stern fin from the side surface of the stern portion in the protruding direction thereof is 2 to 15% of the diameter of the propeller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
