To provide a road gradient prediction system and a road gradient prediction method for predicting a road gradient accurately by accurately estimating a progress direction when a vehicle travels toward a destination.SOLUTION: A road gradient prediction system 10 includes a present position obtainment device 11 and a control device 12. The control device 12 includes a numerical value map 13, a travel direction calculation part 15, a progress direction calculation part 16, and a prediction part 17. The travel direction calculation part 15 calculates a travel direction An of a vehicle at present; the progress direction calculation part 16 calculates a progress direction Dn of the vehicle on the basis of plural travel directions (An, A(n-1) and so forth); and the prediction part 17 predicts a road gradient Sn on the basis of the present position Pn, progress direction Dn and numerical value map 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】車両が目的地に向って走行する際の進行方向を高精度に推定して、路面勾配を高精度に予測する路面勾配予測システム及び路面勾配予測方法を提供する。【解決手段】路面勾配予測システム10は、現在位置取得装置11及び制御装置12を備えて、制御装置12が数値地図13、走行方向算出部15、進行方向算出部16、及び予測部17を有して、走行方向算出部15が現時点の車両の走行方向Anを算出し、進行方向算出部16が複数の走行方向(An、A(n−1)、・・・)に基づいて車両の進行方向Dnを算出し、予測部17が現在位置Pn、進行方向Dn、及び数値地図13に基づいて、路面勾配Snを予測する構成にした。【選択図】図1
