To suppress, when a part of an image is blocked by an obstacle such as a wiper, occurrence of unnecessary suspension of image processing and/or vehicle control that is implemented using a periphery monitoring apparatus.SOLUTION: A periphery monitoring apparatus 10 includes: an image acquisition unit 100 for acquiring a plurality of images in which an object is photographed from different directions; a matching processing unit 110 calculating a parallax score which is a number of image areas capable of calculating a parallax among the plurality of image areas partitioned in the plurality of images and a confidence score which is a number of image areas having a high recognition confidence among the plurality of image areas; and an evaluation unit 120 for evaluating a photographing environment in which the plurality of images are photographed on the basis of the parallax score and the confidence score.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
