To provide a wheel bearing device with a power generator which can be housed in a wheel without significantly changing components around a wheel and can avoid contact between a rotor and a stator when an overload occurs even if an air gap of the power generator is narrowed and an axial dimension is increased.SOLUTION: A wheel bearing device with a power generator includes: a wheel bearing 2; and a power generator 3 having a rotor 19 attached to a rotary wheel 5 of the wheel bearing 2. The power generator 3 is disposed at an outer periphery of the wheel bearing 2. A protection bearing 34 is provided at the power generator 3. One of an inner ring inner peripheral surface and an outer ring outer peripheral surface of the protection bearing 34 is fixed to one of an underbody frame component 30 and a rotary member 20 which integrally rotates with the rotor 19 of the power generator 3. The other surface of the protection bearing 34 faces the other component of the rotary member 20 and the underbody frame component 30 through a gap G2. A radial dimension of the gap G2 is smaller than a radial dimension of an air gap G1 between the rotor 19 and a stator 18.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】車輪周りの構成部品の大きな変更を伴うことなく、ホイール内に収納可能で、かつ発電機のエアギャップの狭小化や軸方向の寸法増大を図っても、過負荷時のロータとステータ間の接触を避けることができるようにする。【解決手段】車輪用軸受2と、その回転輪5に取付られたロータ19を有する発電機3とを備える。発電機3は、車輪用軸受2の外周に配置される。発電機3に保護用軸受34を設ける。保護用軸受34の内輪内周面または外輪外周面のうち一方の面は、前記足回りフレーム部品30および発電機3のロータ19と一体で回転する回転部材20のいずれか一方の部品に対して固定される。保護用軸受34の他方の面は、回転部材20および足回りフレーム部品30のうちの他方の部品に対してすきまG2を介して対向する。 すきまG2の径方向寸法は、ロータ19とステータ18間のエアギャップG1の径方向寸法よりも小さい。【選択図】図1
