To ensure a fitting performance for a front-wheel propeller shaft on a transfer-device side while achieving both a shortened inter-shaft distance of a transfer device and a cooling performance for a universal joint, in a vehicle in which the transfer device is disposed in a tunnel.SOLUTION: A fitting method for a transfer device 10 for a vehicle, the transfer device 10 having a front-wheel output shaft 12 parallel to a rear wheel output shaft 11, the method comprises: a temporary fitting step in which a universal joint 42 of the front-wheel propeller shaft 40 coupled to the front-wheel output shaft 12 is disposed so as to overlap a mating face 31b of the speed change gear 3 and a mating face 72b of the transfer device 10 as viewed from a direction orthogonal to an axial direction, and both the mating faces 31b and 72b are fixed in a temporarily fitted state in which they are separate from each other; a propeller shaft fitting step in which the propeller shaft 40 is fitted to the front-wheel output shaft 12 in the temporarily fitting state; and a main fitting step in which both the fitting faces 31b, 72b are then fixed opposite to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
