To prevent a situation that a battery of a portable machine is abnormally wasted.SOLUTION: When a call signal is transmitted to a portable machine in the circumference of a vehicle, and a response signal corresponded to the call signal is received, an authentication request signal is transmitted and an authentication signal in response to the authentication request signal is received, a portable machine is authenticated by using the authentication signal. In the case where a non-authentication signal state that the authentication signal is not received even when transmitting the authentication request signal is detected, the transmission of the call signal is stopped until a predetermined time is passed. Thus, the on-vehicle authentication device can receive the response signal from the portable machine, but cannot receive the authentication signal. Therefore, the call signal is not required to transmit at various times. As a result, the situation that the portable machine replies the response signal in response to the call signal transmitted at many times from the vehicle side, and a battery of the portable machine is rapidly wasted can be avoided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9

    【課題】携帯機の電池が異常に消耗する事態を防止する。【解決手段】車両周辺の携帯機に対して呼出信号を送信し、呼出信号に対する応答信号を受信した場合には、認証要求信号を送信して、認証要求信号に対する認証信号を受信したら、その認証信号を用いて携帯機を認証する。ここで、認証要求信号を送信しても認証信号が受信できない無認証信号状態が検出された場合には、所定時間が経過するまで呼出信号の送信を中止する。こうすれば、車載認証装置が、携帯機からの応答信号は受信できるが認証信号は受信できないので、何度も呼出信号を送信することがない。その結果、車両側から何度も送信される呼出信号に対して携帯機が応答信号を返信してしまい、携帯機の電池が急に消耗する事態を回避することができる。【選択図】図9
