To provide a reduction gear for a vessel and a vessel capable of arranging the reduction gear and a main engine in a thin portion on a stern side even in a thin vessel shape where it is difficult to arrange the reduction gear in a multiple screw vessel in a conventional reduction gear, and capable of increasing freedom in arrangement of the main engine and the reduction gear in a hull rear unit.SOLUTION: An outer shape of an oil retaining tank 12d arranged under a reduction gear 12 for a vessel for collecting and retaining lubrication oil is constituted in such a manner that: over a part or the whole of a length Lt of the oil retaining tank 12d in an axial direction X of a gear of a gear unit 12A of the reduction gear 12, a cross section perpendicular to the axial direction X of the gear is made to be asymmetric in the horizontal direction by forming a part of an outer line of the cross section on one side be in an oblique linear shape or in a projecting shape to be outside diagonally downward with respect to a vertical line Lc going though a center in the horizontal direction of the gear unit 12A; and a cross section area Sa on one side is made to be 40% or more and 90% or less of a cross section area Sb on the other side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】従来技術の減速機では多軸船における減速機の配置が困難であった痩せた船型においても、減速機と主機関を船尾側の痩せた部位に配置することができて、船体後部の主機関と減速機の配置上の自由度を増加できる船舶用の減速機及び船舶を提供する。【解決手段】船舶用の減速機12の下側に配設されて潤滑油を集めて溜める油溜タンク12dの外形形状を、減速機12の歯車部12Aの歯車の軸方向Xの油溜タンク12dの長さLtの一部または全部にわたって、歯車の軸方向Xに垂直な断面を、歯車部12Aの左右方向の中心を通る鉛直線Lcに対して、一方側の断面の外郭線の一部を斜め直線形状又は斜め下方外側に凸形状に形成して、左右非対称にすると共に、一方側の断面積Saを他方側の断面積Sbの40%以上で90%以下にして構成する。【選択図】図1
