To suppress the generation of knocking by enhancing the prediction accuracy of the generation of the knocking.SOLUTION: A control system for controlling an internal combustion engine mounted to a vehicle comprises an on-vehicle control device 100 mounted to each vehicle 10, and a server 200 which can communicate with the on-vehicle control device. The on-vehicle control device comprises a vehicle information transmission part 154 for transmitting vehicle information including engine operation information and vehicle traveling information to the server, and the server comprises an area knock index value calculation part 251 for calculating an area knock index value indicating the likelihood of the generation of knocking at each area on the basis of the vehicle information. Each of the on-vehicle control devices or the server comprises a traveling area prediction part for predicting an area in which the vehicle may travel in future, and a knock index value calculation part for calculating a knock index value in the future of the vehicle on the basis of the area knock index value in the predicted area. The on-vehicle control device comprises an engine control part 155 for controlling the internal combustion engine of the vehicle on the basis of the knock index value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
