PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a risk degree required for determining safety, while suppressing an operation amount and a memory consumption amount, during traveling both at high speed and at low speed.SOLUTION: A peripheral environment recognition device 10 mounted on a vehicle 2 recognizes a peripheral environment of the vehicle 2. The peripheral environment recognition device 10 comprises: an own vehicle information acquisition part 101 for acquiring own vehicle information about movement of the vehicle 2; a peripheral environment element acquisition part 102 for acquiring peripheral environment element information with respect to an environment element around the vehicle 2; and a travel risk degree determination part 105 for determining each travel risk degree at a plurality of positions around the vehicle 2 on the basis of the own vehicle information and the peripheral environment element information. Intervals at a plurality of positions in a front and rear direction of the vehicle 2 changes depending on a travel speed of the vehicle 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
