PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge rate estimation method with which it is possible to improve the accuracy of estimating a charge rate even more.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for estimating the charge rate of a battery, there being a significant hysteresis occurring in part of a charge rate range of the battery, that the open-circuit voltage value relative to its charge rage after a continuous charge and after a continuous discharge differs by a given amount or more, the battery having a hysteresis area that represents a charge rate range where the significant hysteresis occurs and a non-hysteresis area that represents a charge rate range where the significant hysteresis does not occur, the method comprising: a charge rate estimation step for estimating a control charge rate used for control on the basis of a current-derived charge rate estimated by referring to an integral current value obtained by integration of detected current values of the battery and a voltage-derived charge rate estimated by referring to the detected voltage value of the battery; and a correction step for correcting the current-derived charge rate on the basis of the voltage-derived charge rate estimated when the charge rate of the battery is in the non-hysteresis area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
