PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit capable of increasing a maximum light flux of each light emission part and a lighting device for a vehicle using the same.SOLUTION: A light source unit 1 is controlled by a control unit 3 and emits a white light W1 to a projection optical unit 2 which projects the white light to a focus. The light source unit 1 comprises: a main light source part 11 for generating a P polarized light P1; an auxiliary light source part 12 for emitting an S polarized light S1; an optical path combining part 13 having an emission path on an optical path of the polarized light P1; and a wavelength conversion member 14. The main light source part 11 and the auxiliary light source part 12 comprise respectively, a detection part 11a, 12a for detecting a light emission state of the main light source part 11 and auxiliary light source part 12. The optical path combining part 13 is formed of a polarization beam splitter for transmitting the P polarized light, and reflecting the S polarized light, and the transmitted P polarized light and reflected S polarized light are combined and then emitted. When a light emission state of the main light source part 11 or auxiliary light source part 12 is in an abnormal state, an alarm 31 or 32 is turned on for notifying a driver of the abnormal state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】各光出射部の最大光束を大きくできる光源ユニット及びこれを用いた車両用灯具装置を提供する。【解決手段】 光源ユニット1は制御ユニット3によって制御されて白色光W1を焦点に投影する投影光学ユニット2に出射する。光源ユニット1は、P偏光P1を発光する主光源部11、S偏光S1を発光する補助光源部12、偏光P1の光路上に出射路を有する光路合波部13及び波長変換部材14よりなる。主光源部11、補助光源部12には、主光源部11、補助光源部12の発光状態を検知するための検知部11a、12aが設けられる。光路合波部13は、P偏光を透過し、S偏光を反射する偏光ビームスプリッタよりなり、透過したP偏光及び反射したS偏光は合波されて出射する。主光源部11又は補助光源部12の発光状態が異常状態のときには、アラーム31又は32をオンにすることにより運転者に知らせる。【選択図】 図1
