PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for which cracking is suppressed at a side wall part, and provide a method of manufacturing such a pneumatic tire.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a pneumatic tire comprises the steps of: preparing a ribbon-like strip rubber 11 on which at least one acute angle part 11c of a core material 11a of a flat cross sectional shape having a thickness smaller than a width is covered by a covering material 11b; and forming a side wall part 9 by spirally winding the strip rubber 11 while partially overlapping the strip rubber. According to the method, the covering material 11b is located on an outer surface side at an overlapping part of the strip rubber 11, and a predetermined extension tensile stress S300 value specified in JIS-K6251 concerning the covering material 11b is a ratio of 0.70 times or more and 0.90 times or less with respect to the same value of the core material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】サイドウォール部におけるクラックが抑制された空気入りタイヤと、そのような空気入りタイヤの製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】空気入りタイヤの製造方法は、幅に比べて厚みが小さい扁平な断面形状を有する芯材11aの少なくとも一つの鋭角部11cに被覆材11bが被覆されたリボン状のストリップゴム11を準備し、ストリップゴム11を部分的に重複させながら螺旋状に巻き付けてサイドウォール部9を形成することを含み、被覆材11bはストリップゴム11の重複部において外表面側に位置しており、被覆材11bのJIS−K6251に規定する所定延び引張応力S300値が、芯材の同値に対して0.70倍以上かつ0.90倍以下の割合である。【選択図】図1
