PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device for an electric vehicle capable of reducing an influence of a failure, and a power conversion method for the electric vehicle.SOLUTION: A power conversion device for an electric vehicle of one embodiment includes a power conversion part, a charging adjustment part, a first voltage detection part, a second voltage detection part, a power supply path and a failure detection part. The power conversion part converts power from overhead power lines into power driving a load mounted on the electric vehicle. The charging adjustment part is connected to an output side of the power conversion part and adjusts charging power to a storage battery. The first voltage detection part detects a voltage of an input side of the charging adjustment part. The second voltage detection part detects a voltage of an output side of the charging adjustment part. The power supply path supplies power in one direction from the storage battery to the load. The failure detection part detects a rectifier element having a failure or not on the basis of input/output currents of the charging adjustment part and the voltages detected by the first voltage detection part and the second voltage detection part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】故障の影響を低減することができる電気車用電力変換装置及び電気車用電力変換方法を提供する。【解決手段】実施形態の電気車用電力変換装置は、電力変換部と、充電調整部と、第1電圧検出部と、第2電圧検出部と、電力供給路と、故障検出部と、を有する。電力変換部は、架線からの電力を、電気車両に搭載された負荷を駆動する電力に変換する。充電調整部は、電力変換部の出力側に接続され蓄電池への充電電力を調整する。第1電圧検出部は充電調整部の入力側の電圧を検出する。第2電圧検出部は充電調整部の出力側の電圧を検出する。電力供給路は蓄電池から負荷に一方向に電力を供給する。故障検出部は充電調整部の入出力電流と第1電圧検出部および第2電圧検出部により検出された電圧とに基づいて、整流素子が故障しているか否かを検出する。【選択図】図1
