PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a segment longer, the segment enabling a vehicle to run without frequently changing a control parameter.SOLUTION: A segment determination apparatus 1 comprises: an elevation information obtaining part 41 for obtaining elevation information of a plurality of spots in a road on which a vehicle runs; and a feature quantity determination part 42 for determining a feature quantity indicating gradient information of the road on the basis of the elevation information of the plurality of spots that include a first spot ahead of the vehicle in an advancing direction, of the plurality of spots, and a second spot farther ahead of the first spot. The elevation information obtaining part obtains elevation information of the plurality of spots that includes a spot far from the vehicle than each of the plurality of spots used by the feature quantity determination part for determining the feature quantity, until the feature quantity determined by the feature quantity determination part becomes outside of a prescribed range. The segment determination apparatus 1 further comprises a segment determination part 44 determining a segment with the first spot as an origin and a spot being close to the vehicle, as an end point, of two spots adjacent to the second spots, when the feature quantity becomes outside of the prescribed range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
