PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic brake for a passenger conveyor so that a stop distance can be shortened during emergency stop even when a brake shoe material and others of the electromagnetic brake is abraded; and to provide the passenger conveyor with use thereof.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic brake for a passenger conveyor includes: a brake coil 76; a normal circuit 78 where a first switch 82, which becomes in an ON state during normal stop, or during emergency stop when a stop distance of a footstep 30 becomes within an allowable stop distance, and a first resistance element 84 are connected in series to each other; an emergency circuit 80 where a second switch 86, which becomes in the ON state during emergency stop when the stop distance of the footstep 30 is longer than the allowable stop distance, and a second resistance element 88 are connected in series to each other; a DC power supply; and a main switch 90 that connects the DC power supply and the brake coil 76, and which becomes in the ON state during an operation state. A first resistance value R1 of the first resistance element 84 is smaller than a second resistance value R2 of the second resistance element 88.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】電磁ブレーキのブレーキシュー材などが摩耗した場合でも、緊急停止時には停止距離が短くなるような乗客コンベアの電磁ブレーキ及びそれを用いた乗客コンベアを提供する。【解決手段】ブレーキコイル76と、通常停止時、又は、踏段30の停止距離が許容停止距離以内で、かつ、緊急停止時にON状態となる第1スイッチ82と第1抵抗素子84とが直列に接続された通常回路78と、踏段30の停止距離が許容停止距離より長く、かつ、緊急停止時にON状態となる第2スイッチ86と第2抵抗素子88とが直列に接続された緊急回路80と、直流電源と、直流電源と前記ブレーキコイル76との間に接続され、運転状態のときにON状態となるメインスイッチ90とを有し、第1抵抗素子84の第1抵抗値R1が第2抵抗素子88の第2抵抗値R2より小さい。【選択図】 図3
