PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of suppressing excessive power consumption.SOLUTION: An electric power steering device comprises: maximum motor torque calculation means (33) for calculating a maximum motor torque which can be generated by an electric motor, the maximum motor torque corresponding to a current input voltage and a motor rotation number; and means (33) for, when a switching circuit (43) is in a first power supply state, if a difference between them obtained by subtracting an actual motor torque from the maximum motor torque becomes less than a first prescribed value α(α>0), switching the state of the switching circuit to a second power supply state, and in a state in which the switching circuit is in the second power supply state, if the difference becomes a second prescribed value β(β>0) or more, switching the state of the switching circuit to the first power supply state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
