PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an impact absorbing member compact without degrading its ability to absorb impact, the impact absorbing member being called a crash box for absorbing impact during front collision by its being interposed between, for example, the front bumper and side member of the vehicle.SOLUTION: A front part has flange parts 11a, 12a, 13a, 14a, and a rear part has flange parts 11c, 12c, 13b, 14b folded in a reverse direction to the front-part side. These flange parts are brought into contact with one another and connected to a bumper reinforcement 2 and a side member 3. By virtue of this, axial compressive collapse wave forms of left and right side wall parts 11, 12, an upper wall part 13 and a bottom wall part 14 are appropriately controlled to prevent occurrence of a residue of collapse. Thereby, an impact absorbing member 10 is made compact without degrading its ability to absorb impact.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】車両の例えばフロントバンパとサイドメンバとの間に介装されて前突時等の衝撃を吸収するクラッシュボックスと称される衝撃吸収部材について、衝撃吸収能を低下させることなく、そのコンパクト化を図る。【解決手段】前部にフランジ部11a,12a,13a,14aを設け、後部に前部側とは逆方向に折り曲げたフランジ部11c,12c,13b,14bを設け、これら各フランジ部を当接させてバンパリインフォース2とサイドメンバ3に結合する。これにより衝撃入力時における左右側壁部11,12及び上壁部13と底壁部14の軸圧潰波形を適切に制御して潰れ残しを生じないようにすることで、当該衝撃吸収部材10の衝撃吸収能を低下させることなくそのコンパクト化を図る。【選択図】図3
