PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a forged drive shaft which reduces cutting as much as possible to contribute to shortening of processing time and improvement of yield while maintaining functions as the drive shaft.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method has the steps of: preparing a shaft stock 110 having a first preliminary cylindrical part 111 with a first diameter extending in an axial direction, a second preliminary cylindrical part 112 with a second diameter larger than the first diameter, and a preliminary intermediate shaft 113 which connects the first preliminary cylindrical part 111 and the second preliminary cylindrical part with each other, and whose diameter is larger than the first diameter and smaller than the second diameter; forging and molding a spline shaft molded article 128 having a spline shaft 91 with the first diameter on a first end side of the shaft stock 110 in a first die 114 by inserting the shaft stock 110 into an engraving space of the first die 114; and forging and molding a gear molded article 138 having a gear shaft 92 on outer periphery on the opposite side of the spline shaft 91 in a second die 131 by inserting the spline shaft molded article 128 into the second die 131 from a side of the spline shaft 91.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】ドライブシャフトとしての機能を維持しつつ、できる限り切削加工を削減し、加工時間の短縮や歩留まりの向上に寄与する鍛造ドライブシャフトの製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】製造方法は、第1径の軸線方向に延びる第1予備円筒部111と、第1径よりも大きい第2径の第2予備円筒部112と、第1予備円筒部111および第2予備円筒部を相互に接続し、第1径より大径で第2径より小径の予備中間軸部113を有する軸素材110を準備する工程と、第1ダイス114の型彫空間に軸素材110を挿入し、第1ダイス114内で軸素材110の第1端側に第1径のスプライン軸91を有するスプライン軸成形品128を鍛造成形する工程と、第2ダイス131にスプライン軸成形品128をスプライン軸部側から挿入し、第2ダイス131内でスプライン軸91とは反対側の外周にギヤ軸92を有するギヤ成形品138を鍛造成形する工程とを有する。【選択図】図4
