PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a congestion degree notification system, a method of detecting congestion degree, and a program that are capable of more correctly detecting a unit length interval which becomes a unit of an area to determine a congestion degree of a train and thereby capable of more correctly detecting a congestion degree.SOLUTION: A detection unit 30 for performing an interval detection which is a detection of one train car interval of a train T and a congestion degree detection which is a detection of a congestion degree of passengers in each of the one train car interval performs the interval detection and the congestion degree detection by using laser beam L emitted to the train T and thereby measuring a distance from an emission position of the laser beam L to a reflection position. A notification unit 40 makes a notification of a congestion degree per each one train car interval of the train T by obtaining the results of the interval detection and the congestion degree detection from the detection unit 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
