PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction resistance reducing coating capable of reducing friction resistance between water and a hull surface in a so-called external flow such as ocean by a Toms effect.SOLUTION: Because vortex structure formed near a coating film surface can be eliminated by forming a secondary structure with a water soluble polymer contained in the coating film formed by a friction resistance reducing coating, friction resistance between water and a hull surface can be reduced by forming the coating by applying the friction resistance reducing coating to the hull surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 23

    【課題】 海洋などのいわゆる外部流において水と船体表面との間の摩擦抵抗をトムズ効果により低減することができる摩擦抵抗低減塗料を提供する。【解決手段】 摩擦抵抗低減塗料により形成された塗膜中に含有されている水溶性高分子が2次構造体を形成することにより、塗膜表面近傍に形成される渦構造を消失させることができるから、船体表面に水と船体表面との間の摩擦抵抗を塗布して塗膜を形成することにより、水と船体表面との間の摩擦抵抗を低減することができる。【選択図】 図23
