PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stern tube seal system which enables reduction of leakage of a lubrication oil to the outside of a ship.SOLUTION: A stern tube seal system 100 prevents a lubrication oil in a stern tube 10 covering a propeller shaft 2 from flowing out and includes: a cylindrical housing 102 into which the propeller shaft is inserted; a first seal ring 105a which is held by the housing and slidably contacts with outer peripheral surfaces of liners 4, 6 which fits on the propeller shaft; a second seal ring 105b which is held by the housing at a position located closer to a bow side than the first seal ring and slidably contacts with the outer peripheral surfaces of the liners to form a first air chamber with the first seal ring; an air supply part 120 which supplies air to the first air chamber at an air pressure higher than a sea water pressure at a stern side of the first seal ring; and a lubrication oil circulation part 130 which circulates the lubrication oil in the stern tube at an oil pressure less than the sea water pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
