PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical and effective evaluation method for the wear performance of a pneumatic tire 2.SOLUTION: This evaluation method comprises: (1) the step of acquiring the section of a tire 2 vertical to the circumferential direction of the tire 2; (2) the step of specifying the contour of a carcass 12 in the section of the tire 2; (3) the step of turning the contour of the carcass 12 on the rotation axis of that tire 2 thereby to specify the three-dimensional shape of the carcass 12; (4) the step of cutting the three-dimensional shape of the carcass 12 to acquire a cut area 54; (5) the step of acquiring the length Lc of a segment CL, the length La of a segment Al and the length Lb of a segment BL thereby to specify the shape of a cut area 54; and (6) the step of deciding the wear performance of the tire 2 in dependence upon whether a ratio (La/Lc) satisfies 0.70 to 0.73 and a ratio (Lb/Lc) satisfies 0.83 to 0.88.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
