PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the engraving depth of a character engraved in an inspection object.SOLUTION: An engraving inspection method includes: a first measurement process of measuring, with a displacement sensor 2, the state of a surface Ws of an inspection object W other than a character L; a second measurement process of measuring, with the displacement sensor 2, the engraving depth of the character L on the basis of the state of the surface Ws measured in the first measurement process; and a determination process of determining, with an arithmetic processing device 5, the quality of the engraving related to the character L on the basis of the measured value of the engraving depth acquired by the displacement sensor 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
