PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-rate compatible optical beacon in an uplink direction, configured to properly set a relation between receiving sensitivity of a low-speed frame and receiving sensitivity of a high-speed frame, on an installation site.SOLUTION: The optical beacon includes: a beacon head 8 including an optical receiving part 11 capable of performing optical/electric conversion at high and low transmission rates, and an optical transmitting part capable of performing electric/optical conversion at a predetermined transmission rate; a low-speed receiving system 26A for receiving a low-speed frame; and a high-speed receiving system 26B for receiving a high-speed frame. Each of the low-speed receiving system and the high-speed receiving system includes: a light-receiving element for receiving an uplink optical signal; and amplifiers 33A and 33B for amplifying an electric signal output by the light-receiving element. At least one of the low-speed receiving system and the high-speed receiving system further includes an adjustment part 39 capable of changing an amplification factor of the amplifiers, and is configured to acquire an instruction to change the amplification factor externally.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
