PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for suppressing changes in chromaticity while reducing damages in a display device by sun rays.SOLUTION: A head-up display device 1 includes an illumination optical system 22, an imaging optical system 10 and a reflective optical system 34. The illumination optical system 22 projects light source light representing information. The imaging optical system 10 projects the light source light projected by the illumination optical system 22 onto a projection plane. The reflective optical system 34 includes a dielectric multilayer film that transmits electromagnetic waves in an infrared region and reflects electromagnetic waves in a visible light region. The reflective optical system 34 is configured to give a retardation within a range of larger than -π/2 [rad] and smaller than π/2 [rad] at target wavelengths including at least a part of the wavelengths in the light source light from the illumination optical system 22. The reflective optical system 34 is disposed on a path of the light source light from the illumination optical system 22 to the imaging optical system 10 in such a manner that an angle α (degree) of a polarization axis of the light source light from the illumination optical system 22 with respect to an incidence plane satisfies 0<α<90 or 90<α<180.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
