PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection method having a minimum number of cameras and hardly entailing high-cost construction work in an unmanned parking lot having a plurality of casings, detecting loading and unloading of a vehicle into/from each of the casing, and charging the vehicle a predetermined parking fee on the basis of residence time of the vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection apparatus comprises: monitoring cameras 44, 45, and 46 capable of imaging a plurality of casings of unmanned parking lots 41, 42, and 43; and a display 52 displaying images picked up by the cameras, recognizes whether a parked vehicle is present in each of the plurality of casings by picking up the images displayed on the display and causing an image recognition device 55 to discriminate the picked-up images.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
