PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser welding method and a laser welder that enable water-tight welding of a workpiece with good working efficiency.SOLUTION: This laser welding method includes: an arrangement process of overlapping an end 16 of an outer plate 13 with a vehicle outer surface (main surface) 14a of a doorway frame (first workpiece) 12; and a welding process of forming a continuous laser welded portion W2 along an overlapped portion P between the vehicle outer surface 14a of the doorway frame 12 and an end surface 16a of the end 16 side of the outer plate 13 by using a hand torch type laser welder 1. In the welding process, a contact tip 7A that has a projecting portion 21 comprising a first surface 23 coming into contact with the vehicle outer surface 14a of the doorway frame 12 and a second surface 24 coming into contact with the end surface 16a of the outer plate 13 is applied to a torch portion 4 of the laser welder 1 to perform laser welding between the vehicle outer surface 14a and the end surface 16a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
