PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic situation identification apparatus capable of estimating a traffic situation in a road section to be estimated on the basis of a traffic situation which is in the light of travel modes such as right/left turn and straight-ahead travel of vehicles traveling around the road section to be estimated.SOLUTION: A traffic situation identification apparatus 1 identifies a traffic situation of each road section on the basis of vehicle probe information. The traffic situation identification apparatus 1 also identifies a traffic situation of each road section for every travel direction after passing of the road section. The traffic situation identification apparatus 1 calculates a coefficient defining a relationship between the traffic situation of each road section and the traffic situation of this road section connected to a road section identified for every travel direction after passing the road section. If the traffic situation of a certain road section is not identified in a specific time zone, the traffic situation identification apparatus 1 estimates the traffic situation of the certain road section on the basis of the traffic situation of a road section connected to the certain road section and identified for every travel direction after passing of the road section in the time zone and the coefficient.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】推定対象である道路区間の周囲を走行する車両の右左折、直進等の走行態様を考慮した交通状況に基づいて、該道路区間の交通状況を推定することができる交通状況特定装置を提供する。【解決手段】交通状況特定装置1は、車両のプローブ情報に基づいて、各道路区間の交通状況を特定する。また、交通状況特定装置1は、各道路区間の交通状況を、道路区間通過後の進行方向毎に特定する。そして、交通状況特定装置1は、各道路区間の交通状況と、道路区間通過後の進行方向毎に特定された該道路区間に連結する前記道路区間の交通状況との関係を規定する係数を算出する。交通状況特定装置1は、特定の時間帯において一の道路区間の交通状況が特定されない場合、前記時間帯において道路区間通過後の進行方向毎に特定された該一の道路区間に連結した前記道路区間の交通状況と、前記係数とに基づいて、前記一の道路区間の交通状況を推定する。【選択図】図2
