PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power train capable of reducing a rotor loss due to an effect of Joule and Foucault.SOLUTION: A power train for a transportation vehicle includes; a motor provided with a shaft, a stator, and a rotor; and a power supply system which accepts DC input voltage and sends out multi-phase voltage to the motor. A system has a sensor for degree of modulation equal to one which is acquired by dividing voltage amplitude of each phase of the motor by the DC input voltage, and a sensor for rotational speed of the rotor. The power train includes means for making the degree of modulation change, that is adapted so as to decrease the degree of modulation for degree of modulation in a state where there is no means for making the degree of modulation change when the rotational speed of the rotor belongs to a first section having a value which is less than a prescribed transition value, and that is adapted so as to increase the degree of modulation for the degree of modulation in the state where there is no means for making the degree of modulation change when the rotational speed of the rotor belongs to a second section having a value which is more than the prescribed transition value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
