PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet synchronous motor reconciling high efficiency low-speed rotation range and expanded drive range of high-speed rotation range, while allowing higher output, and to provide a winding-switching motor drive unit, and a refrigeration air-conditioning apparatus using them, and an electric vehicle.SOLUTION: In a permanent magnet synchronous motor having more than one windings (2A, 2B) in series connection in one phase, where the windings are selected and driven by a driver of multiple inverter system for switching an inverter circuit being driven at a low speed and a high speed, the ratio of induction voltage constant and d-axis inductance of at least one set of windings constituting the winding (2B) being driven at a high speed is larger than the ratio of induction voltage constant and d-axis inductance of the whole windings (2A, 2B) connected in series.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
