PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC voltage detector for overhead contact lines that does not require a worker to manually operate a plurality of switches for sensitivity adjustment, and is suitable for work at a high place such as work on a ladder.SOLUTION: The present invention is a DC voltage detector for overhead contact lines equipped with a detection circuit 11 for detecting the presence of a DC voltage in an overhead contact line 36 without touching it by bringing a detection electrode 15 closer to the overhead contact line 36, the detection circuit 11 being fitted with an initialization circuit 12 that starts test operation on the detection circuit 11 upon turning on of a power switch 27, holds the output of the detection circuit 11 for a prescribed time at the same time the test operation starts, and, when the held value and the output value of the detection circuit 11 after the passage of the prescribed time match, places the detection circuit 11 into a practically usable state at the same time the test operation is automatically completed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
