PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately extinguish a light source of each of vehicular headlamps, which employs a light source of high output intensity, in the case of occurrence of an abnormality.SOLUTION: Included are a lighting control unit 22 that controls a lit state of each of vehicular headlamps, an obstacle detector (radar 3) that senses an obstacle existent ahead of an own vehicle, and a collision prediction processing unit 23 that predicts a collision possibility between an obstacle and the own vehicle on the basis of a distance between the obstacle and own vehicle and the vehicle speed of the own vehicle when a result of sensing by the obstacle detector demonstrates that the obstacle exists, and instructs the lighting control unit 22 to relatively decrease the intensity of output light of the vehicular headlamp so that the intensity becomes lower than the normal-time intensity when the collision possibility is recognized.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】高い出力強度の光源を用いる車両用前照灯において、異常発生時に光源を速やかに消灯させる。【解決手段】車両用前照灯の点灯状態を制御する点灯制御部22と、自車両の前方に存在する障害物を検知するための障害物検出部(レーダー3)と、障害物検出部による検知結果に基づき、障害物が存在する場合に当該障害物と自車両との距離及び自車両の車速に基づいて障害物と自車両との衝突可能性を予測し、衝突可能性があると判断される場合に、車両用前照灯の出力光の強度を通常時の強度よりも相対的に低下させるように点灯制御部22へ指示する衝突予測処理部23とを含む。【選択図】図1
