PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably suppress a fall of a rack guide by a simple structure, in a rack shaft support device.SOLUTION: A rack shaft support device 15 includes a rack guide 18 accommodated in an accommodation hole 16, a plug 19 attached to an opening of the accommodation hole 16, and a compression coil spring 20 interposed between the rack guide 18 and the plug 19. The plug 19 includes a first spring bearing surface 51 which receives a first end 21 of the compression coil spring 20. The rack guide 18 includes a second spring bearing surface 52 which receives a second end 22 of the compression coil spring 20. A fall suppression mechanism 40 includes tip-narrowed tapered guide protrusions 61, 62 which are formed at least at either of the first spring bearing surface 51 and the second spring bearing surface 52, and guide inside-diameter parts 21a, 22a of the corresponding ends 21, 22 of the compression coil spring 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
