PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulation material which is favorable in mechanical rigidity, water resistance and heat insulation performance, and a battery cover.SOLUTION: In a heat insulation material 100, the heat insulation material 100 comprises a wall material 101, and the wall material 101 comprises a high-density part 102 which is arranged at one end edge of the wall material in an orthogonal direction which is orthogonal to a thickness direction of the wall material 101, and whose density exceeds 0.45 g/cm, and a low-density part 103 which is arranged in the middle of the orthogonal direction of the thickness direction, and has heat resistance, and whose density is not higher than 0.45 g/cm. The high-density part 102 is arranged over the whole edge of one end edge, and a thickness of the high-density part 102 is thinner than a thickness of the low-density part 103.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
