PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-contact power transmission and reception system, including a power reception apparatus which receives electric power from a power transmission apparatus in a non-contact manner and which is capable of charging a battery, that suppresses the power reception apparatus and peripheral apparatuses thereof from becoming a relatively hot temperature while suppressing enlargement of the power reception apparatus and an increase in the number of parts used.SOLUTION: The non-contact power transmission and reception system calculates a loss Plo as a power difference between transmission power Ptr of a transmission unit of a power transmission apparatus and reception power Pre of a reception unit of a power reception apparatus (S130) and, when the calculated loss Plo is higher than a threshold value Ploref, a smaller value than when the loss Plo is not higher than the threshold value Ploref is set to target transmission power Ptr* (S140-S170) to control a high-frequency power supply circuit using the target transmission power Ptr* (S180).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
