PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel supporting rolling bearing unit which is constructed to prevent a cover from falling off from the axial inner end of an outer ring when pressure rise occurs in an internal space.SOLUTION: A cover 16a is constituted by a fitting cylindrical part 17a shaped cylindrical, an inner-diameter side folded-back cylindrical part 22 folded back axially outward from the axial inner edge of the fitting cylindrical part 17a, and a bottom plate part 18a elongated radially inward from the axial outer edge of the inner-diameter side folded-back cylindrical part 22. The whole bottom plate part 18a is formed as a partially spherical convex which is gradually bend axially inward as extending radially inward. In the axial-inner-end inner peripheral face of an outer ring 2a at a position where it matches the outer peripheral edge of the bottom plate part 18a with respect to the axial direction, a recessed groove 23 is formed throughout its periphery. When pressure rise occurs in an internal space 15, the bottom plate part 18a is deformed to be diameter-enlarged while being crushed axially inward, so that a protruded strip part 24 formed on the fitting cylindrical part 17a enters into the recessed groove 23.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】内部空間の圧力が上昇した場合でも、外輪の軸方向内端部からカバーが脱落する事を防止できる構造を実現する。【解決手段】カバー16aを、円筒状の嵌合筒部17aと、この嵌合筒部17aの軸方向内端縁から軸方向外方に折り返された内径側折り返し筒部22と、この内側折り返し筒部22の軸方向外端縁から径方向内方に伸長した底板部18aとから構成する。この底板部18a全体を、径方向内方に向かう程軸方向内方に向かう方向に折れ曲がった、部分球状凸面とする。外輪2aの軸方向内端部内周面のうち、軸方向に関して底板部18aの外周縁部と整合する位置に凹溝23を全周に亙り形成する。内部空間15の圧力が高くなった場合には、底板部18aを軸方向内方に押し潰しつつ拡径する様に変形させ、嵌合筒部17aに形成された凸条部24を凹溝23内に入り込ませる。【選択図】図1
