PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling work machine which, while adopting manual steering and automatic steering, can make efficient work possible without causing burdens on an operator, and an automatic steering system used therein.SOLUTION: A traveling work machine and an automatic steering system used therein comprise: a position unit 5 for outputting positioning data indicating the position of the work machine; a route calculation unit 81 for calculating a target traveling route; a direction calculation unit 84 for calculating the direction of a traveling machine 1 relative to the target traveling route on the basis of the positioning data; a steering data output unit 82 for outputting automatic steering data in order for traveling along the target traveling route; an automatic steering unit 83 for generating a steering signal in order for steering the traveling machine 1 on the basis of the automatic steering data; and an automatic steering management unit 85 which, in a shift from traveling by manual steering to traveling by automatic steering, disables shifting to automatic travelling by the automatic traveling unit 83 as long as the direction of the traveling machine 1 calculated by the direction calculation unit 84 exceeds a prescribed permissible range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】人為操舵と自動操舵とを取り入れながらも、運転者に負担を掛けずに効率的な作業が可能となる走行作業機及びそれに用いられる自動操舵システムの提供。【解決手段】走行作業機及びそれに用いられる自動操舵システムは、自機位置を示す測位データを出力する測位ユニット5と、目標走行経路を算定する経路算定部81と、測位データに基づいて目標走行経路に対する走行機体1の向きを算定する向き算定部84と、目標走行経路に沿うように走行するための自動操舵データを出力する操舵データ出力部82と、自動操舵データに基づいて走行機体1を操舵するための操舵信号を生成する自動操舵部83と、人為操舵による走行中から自動操舵による走行への移行において、向き算定部84で算定された走行機体1の向きが所定の許容範囲を超えている限り、自動操舵部83による自動操舵走行への移行を禁止する自動操舵管理部85とを備えている。【選択図】図1
