PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake mechanism of a caster in which a size of a brake lever is increased, a diameter of an engagement gear is increased by arranging on an inner circumference of a wheel to obtain sufficient brake force, and assembly work is simplified.SOLUTION: An operation pin 4 which freely moves vertically is arranged on a support shaft 1. An operation lever 5 is arranged above the operation pin 4. An engagement gear is arranged on a lower part of the support shaft 1. An engagement gear 7 is arranged along a whole inner circumference surface of a wheel 3b of a caster 3. The engagement gear which is freely engaged with and detached from the engagement gear, and a brake operation body 10 for rotating and operating the brake lever 9 are fixed to a lower end part of the operation pin 4. The brake lever 9 is incorporated along the caster 3, a base end part 9a is engaged with the brake operation body 10, and a tip end part 9b is pivotally supported on the frame 2 in a position passing over an axle 3a. The brake lever freely rotates around the tip end part 9b by vertical movement of the operation pin 4. An engagement body 20, which is freely engaged with and detached from the engagement gear 7, is arranged in the middle of the base end part 9a and the tip end part 9b of the brake lever 9.

    【課題】ブレーキレバーを大型化し、係合歯車もホイールの内周に設けることにより大径として、十分な制動力を得ることができ、組み立て作業も簡単にしたキャスターの制動機構を提供する。【解決手段】支軸1に上下動自在とした操作ピン4を設け、操作ピン4の上方において操作レバー5を設けると共に、支軸1の下部に係合歯車を設け、車輪3のホイール3bの内周全面に沿って係合歯車7を設け、操作ピン4の下端部に係合歯車と係脱自在とした係合歯車、ブレーキレバー9を回動操作するブレーキ操作体10を止着し、ブレーキレバー9は、車輪3に沿って組み込まれ、基端部9aをブレーキ操作体10に係着し、先端部9bを車軸3aの上方を通り越した位置でフレーム2に軸支し、操作ピン4の上下動によって、先端部9bを中心に回動自在にし、ブレーキレバー9の基端部9aと先端部9bの中間には、係合歯車7に係脱自在とした係合体20を設けている。【選択図】図8
