PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic vibration absorber for an elevator, which can suppress the vibration of a rope homogeneously in an arbitrary horizontal direction against the transverse vibration of the rope.SOLUTION: A mass addition mechanism of a pendulum structure type, comprises: a main rope holding member 1 (a balance rope holding member 6) for holding a plurality of main ropes R1 (or balance ropes R2) at a position upper (lower) position of at least one of two end portions of the plurality of main ropes R1 (or balance ropes R2); a plurality of link members 2 connected to the main rope holding member 1 through a universal joint 21 and hung oscillatably at the universal joint 21; and an added mass body 3 connected to the tips of the individual link members 2 and suspended downward of the main rope holding member 1 (or the balance rope holding member 6).
