PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of effectively realizing reduction in a center distance by adopting a winding transmission mechanism and ensuring excellent on-vehicle performance while reducing the axial dimension of the automatic transmission.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission 1 in which a transmission mechanism that includes a plurality of planetary gear sets, a friction fastening element, and an output unit 41, and a power transmission mechanism 2 are provided in sequence from an opposite side to a drive source on an axis of an input shaft 6, and in which an input unit 42 connected to the output unit 41 via a winding transmission mechanism 43, a speed-reduction planetary gear set 60, and a differential element 70 are provided in sequence from the opposite side to the drive source on a differential gear shaft 50, is configured so that the speed-reduction planetary gear set 60 is disposed to be closer to the opposite side to the drive source in an axial direction than the power transmission mechanism 2, the speed-reduction planetary gear set 60 and the power transmission mechanism 2 are disposed to overlap each other in a view from the axial direction, and a single constituent element 30 constituting the transmission mechanism 10 is disposed to be closer to the drive source than the output unit 41 and to overlap the speed-reduction planetary gear set 60 in the axial direction.

    【課題】自動変速機の軸方向寸法の短縮を図りつつ、巻き掛け伝動機構の採用による軸間距離の短縮を効果的に実現して、車載性に優れた自動変速機を提供する。【解決手段】入力軸6の軸線上に、反駆動源側から順に、複数のプラネタリギヤセットと複数の摩擦締結要素と出力部41とを含む変速機構10、動力伝達要素2が配設され、デフ軸50上に、反駆動源側から順に、巻き掛け伝動部材43を介して出力部41に連結された入力部42、減速用プラネタリギヤセット60、差動要素70が配設された自動変速機1において、減速用プラネタリギヤセット60を、動力伝達要素2よりも軸方向反駆動源側に配置し、減速用プラネタリギヤセット60と動力伝達要素2とを軸方向から見て重なるように配置し、変速機構10を構成する単一の構成要素30を、出力部41よりも駆動源側に配置し、且つ、減速用プラネタリギヤセット60と軸方向にオーバーラップして配置する。【選択図】図2
