PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle front monitoring device capable of determining whether object detection performance degrades even if the direction of a leading vehicle cannot be measured.SOLUTION: A signal processing unit 14 of a vehicle calculates a distance to a leading vehicle 2 and a relative velocity of the leading vehicle 2 on the basis of a reflection wave reflected by the leading vehicle 2; a tracking processing unit 16 tracks the leading vehicle 2 based on the distance to the leading vehicle 2, the relative velocity of the leading vehicle 2, and a velocity of the vehicle 10, and calculates maximum detected distances during approach and separation if the leading vehicle 2 approaches and separates from the vehicle 10; a maximum detection distance comparison unit 17 calculates an absolute value of a difference between the maximum detected distances during approach and separation, and compares the absolute value of the difference with a preset predetermined reference value; an average value calculation unit 18 calculates an average value of the maximum detected distances during approach and separation if it is determined that the absolute value of the difference is equal to or smaller than the reference value; an average value comparison unit 19 compares the average value with a preset predetermined reference value; and a detected distance reduction determination unit 20 determines whether object detection performance degrades if the average value falls below the predetermined reference value.

    【課題】先行車の方向を計測できない場合にも、物体検知性能の低下の判定を行える車両前方監視装置を得る。【解決手段】先行車2によって反射された反射波を基にし、車両10の信号処理部14が先行車2までの距離と先行車2の相対速度とを算出し、これらと車両10の車速とに基づいて、追尾処理部16が先行車2を追尾し、先行車2が接近及び離反した場合に、接近時及び離反時の最大検知距離を算出し、最大検知距離比較部17が接近時及び離反時の最大検知距離の差分の絶対値を算出して予め設定された所定の基準値と比較し、差分の絶対値が基準値以内と判定された場合に、接近時及び離反時の最大検知距離の平均値を平均値算出部18が算出し、平均値比較部19が平均値と予め設定された所定の基準値とを比較して、平均値が所定の基準値を下回る場合に検知距離低下判定部20が物体検知性能の低下を判定する。【選択図】図1
