PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train radio communication system that achieves the integration of radio base stations for communications of the train as a whole, and prevents on-train units excluding a head vehicle from becoming nonfunctional at a handover point.SOLUTION: The train radio communication system includes: on-train units 61a, 61b having train control units 63a, 63b for generating a piece of position information and controlling the speed of the train, and radio communication units 62a, 62b for transmitting the position information from the train control units 63a, 63b, respectively; radio base stations 5a-5h which are disposed within a radio train control range to communicate with the on-train units 61a, 61b; and ground control units 3A-3D that control the operation of the train based on the position information received via the radio base stations 5a-5h. The head vehicle and the rearmost vehicle of a train 6 have the on-train units 61a, 61b respectively. The radio communication units 62a, 62b of the on-train units 61a, 61b included in them synchronize their changeover timings for performing communication among the radio base stations 5a-5h.
